I am related to the Grant Neish family of Buckie, not far from Inverness. My branch of the family imigrated to Canada in around 1918 or so, and later moved to the U.S. On a trip to Scotland last year, I tried to find some record of my relatives remaining in Scotland, but I could only find death records of those who bore the combined name Grant Neish. Does anyone out there know of a surviving Grant Neish? They may have dropped the "Grant" as my family has, but they would originate from the Buckie area, and may use "Grant" as a middle name, as frequently happened in my family.

My 3rd Great Grandfather, Peter Neish, was born in Glasgow in 1873. He immigrated to the United States sometime before 1821 because he married Lucinda Ellen Martin in Pennsylvania during that year. I would love to correspond with anyone who may have information about Peter, his ancestors or his descendents.

Glad to see so many Neish's my mother used to tell me that the Neish's were not a common name..

Looking for more information on the Neish Clan.

My g g grandparents were Peter Neish & Margaret McLaren. I managed to trace their death certificates which lists their parents as "Peter Neish & Helen White" James McLaren & Mary Ann Whitehead.

James McLaren & Mary Ann Whitehead were married 17 December 1809 at "Trinity Gask" Perth. Scotland.

Does anyone have any dates regarding the Neish's further back than that?

would love to hear from you if you have...

Nancy

I have traced my family back to a James Neish of Dundee, Scotland who married Elizabeth Pope of Eggesford, Devon. They lived in Plymouth according to the 1841 & 1851 census. James was possibly born about 1785. Love to hear from anyone that might be connected.
