Where the apple-ringie grows by William Neish

I happen to have a copy of this book. I'm not sure where I got it from but I see that it is the first publication. I googled the author and the book and it didnt come up with much other than this site. Just thought it was quite interesting.

neish family tree history

Hi John, i spoke to you briefly some time last year 2008 you had information regarding neish's in the Wirral areas, i have been checking a few things myself to where my family ties into the other neish families in the Wallasey and Birkenhead areas, im just wandering where you're side of the family ties into the other possible neish's in the areas ive mentioned, i would be interested in meeting up with you if you're interested and see if there are any links between us, i have already linked my side of the family to the neish's in Wallasey and im sure we are related to the neish's in Birkenhead but ive hit a bit of a snag i have been in touch with someone from the family, but sadly they are not interested in this sort of thing and don't want to delve into the family tree side of things, there's also a few other things i'd like to discuss with you as you are the only other person i know who has information that might be of interest to me and my family tree.

regards

Wayne Neish

Neish family

Wayne I think you will find that the photo`s you left at my fathers in Birkenhad a while ago are of a family called Dasher from the North End of Birkenhead and Price St, who changed their name to Neish I think you will find this true if you check this out

reply to surname

Hi, i write to reply to your comment regarding some photographs, i recall calling to see a gentleman, William Neish,or known as Mr Neish, looking for information regarding the surname Neish. If possible i am still trying to make a connection with this side of Neish's as there is a link that was recognised by the name Simon Neish, and your father Mr William Neish confirmed their was a connection and he was from Wallasey.

The surname Dasher was used by my descendants as a means relating to my late granddad Ronald Augustus Neish, his Biological father John Henry Neish Jnr, who mwas married to my gg grandmother Etty Neish (Lamb) in 1927, who was only around till he was 2yrs old, and was then brought up by Henry Augustus Dasher, they never married but had a daughter Maude, she was a Dasher,
So when my Grandfather was about 17, he had a fall out with his stepfather and said im not a Dasher im a Neish, however he wanted to get married to my late Grandmother Anne Neish (Holden),before going into the Army, but was having problems getting it changed by de-poll, so got married in the surname Dasher, until years later, to my knowledge my father Ronald Steve Neish b.1951, told me he was about 15yrs old when his surname was changed back to Neish by de-poll. I have since checked all relavant details and accounts through BDM and have the marriage certificate of John Henry Neish and Etty Lamb, and also the details of the father on the bith certificate which confirms we are biologically Neishes, not Dasher, i hope this clears things for you your end.

Regards
Wayne Neish

Early registrars in the case

Early registrars in the case of relatively uncommon name would write it as they thought it was sounded. This spelling occured in the northern portion of Scotland. I can tell you from personal experience that people still want to add the "c" into my version.

It's nice to see some other

It's nice to see some other Neish'es out there! I've never met or spoken to a Neish that wasn't a close relative! We aren't very common in New England; in fact, I think we're the only Neish'es *in* New England...

Have never come across this

Have never come across this last name until I viewed on a sign at an Orange County Golf Course. Does anyone know any Neisch's?

The are an incredible number

The are an incredible number of variations in spelling of the core Scottish name Neish many of which people have used in letters to me to this day! Neisch is one of them although most variations only exist before the name was standardised some linger on. Early registrars in the case of relatively uncommon name would write it as they thought it was sounded. This spelling occured in the northern portion of Scotland. I can tell you from personal experience that people still want to add the "c" into my version.

The name Nish is the same and should be sounded the same as Neish ( not like fish). This spelling would indicate the family originated in the southwest of Scotland as this became the standardised spelling in this area.

I have a friend Robert NEISH

I have a friend Robert NEISH (1965-)
