Where the apple-ringie grows by William Neish

I happen to have a copy of this book. I'm not sure where I got it from but I see that it is the first publication. I googled the author and the book and it didnt come up with much other than this site. Just thought it was quite interesting.

"Where the Apple-Ringie Grows"

My goodness! WHAT is the book about????

Where the Apple Ringie Grows

The book was written by:

William Byers NEISH
born: 1867 Auchterarder, Perthshire
father: William NEISH (1846-1933)
mother: Lilias BYERS (1837-1876)
died: 1938 London
married: 1889 Mary Ann McBEATH (1870-1933)
Children: 11 between 1889 and 1910, mostly in London.

neish family tree history

Hi John, i spoke to you briefly some time last year 2008 you had information regarding neish's in the Wirral areas, i have been checking a few things myself to where my family ties into the other neish families in the Wallasey and Birkenhead areas, im just wandering where you're side of the family ties into the other possible neish's in the areas ive mentioned, i would be interested in meeting up with you if you're interested and see if there are any links between us, i have already linked my side of the family to the neish's in Wallasey and im sure we are related to the neish's in Birkenhead but ive hit a bit of a snag i have been in touch with someone from the family, but sadly they are not interested in this sort of thing and don't want to delve into the family tree side of things, there's also a few other things i'd like to discuss with you as you are the only other person i know who has information that might be of interest to me and my family tree.

regards

Wayne Neish

Neish family

Wayne I think you will find that the photo`s you left at my fathers in Birkenhad a while ago are of a family called Dasher from the North End of Birkenhead and Price St, who changed their name to Neish I think you will find this true if you check this out

Early registrars in the case

Early registrars in the case of relatively uncommon name would write it as they thought it was sounded. This spelling occured in the northern portion of Scotland. I can tell you from personal experience that people still want to add the "c" into my version.

It's nice to see some other

It's nice to see some other Neish'es out there! I've never met or spoken to a Neish that wasn't a close relative! We aren't very common in New England; in fact, I think we're the only Neish'es *in* New England...

Greetings from germany, best

Have never come across this

Have never come across this last name until I viewed on a sign at an Orange County Golf Course. Does anyone know any Neisch's?

The are an incredible number

The are an incredible number of variations in spelling of the core Scottish name Neish many of which people have used in letters to me to this day! Neisch is one of them although most variations only exist before the name was standardised some linger on. Early registrars in the case of relatively uncommon name would write it as they thought it was sounded. This spelling occured in the northern portion of Scotland. I can tell you from personal experience that people still want to add the "c" into my version.

The name Nish is the same and should be sounded the same as Neish ( not like fish). This spelling would indicate the family originated in the southwest of Scotland as this became the standardised spelling in this area.

I have a friend Robert NEISH

I have a friend Robert NEISH (1965-)

Hi my maternal grandmother's

Hi my maternal grandmother's family was Neish.
My grandmother's mother was Isabel Neish. Her father was Robert Neish from Dundee. Unfortunetly don't know his wife's name but he had 3 other children: Robert, Joseph, Mary Ellen (married name Downs)

Unfortunetly dont know any dates either but they immigrated to Liverpool, England, that's where my grandmother was born.

Any information please email me! Thank you!

hi

I live opposite Neish Island so it is good to hear that the Neishes are all well and farflung. my kids love the swim to the island.

Neish Island

I saw your comment about Neish Islan d. My surname is Neish and I live near Blackpool I have always intended to visit the Island. Is there anywhere nice to stay nearby?

Jane Neish b. 16 Jun 1808

My connection to Neishes is very peripheral: the subject is the wife of my 2nd great grand uncle, John Ross. Jane's birth date comes from her headstone. We know she was born in Scotland, but I cannot find a matching record in the OPR. Anybody recognize this lady?

Jane Neish

My fathers sister Betsy Neish probably christened Jane after her mother, married John Ross in Dundee and emigrated to New Jersey approx 1920.I realise that the dates don't tie up but the names might be more than a coincidence. You can contact me at jrneish@hotmail.co.uk
